A view into the interior of objects can be realized using a transmission electron microscope which produces a two-dimensional image of the specimen. For this purpose, thin slices of the specimens are generally necessary to allow the electrons to penetrate.

With the transmission electron microscope Jeol JEM 1011 objects can be visualized up to a 200,000-fold magnification using an accelerating voltage of 100 kV.  It is equipped with the digital camera MegaView III.
